
Our milk cow Sandy gives a lot of milk (three to five gallons a day!). One of our favorite things to make with all that abundance is homemade yogourt. It’s easy, it’s versatile, it’s good for your gut, and it’s delicious.
Coupled with this farmhouse granola, it’s a quick and hearty breakfast full of all the good things that will keep your energy high so you can make progress on that mile-long list of farm projects to do.
Or, make breakfast even simpler by pairing this delicious granola with milk.

Farmhouse Granola
Makes approximately 12 cups
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
450 grams (4 1/2 cups) oatmeal
50 grams (1/2 cup) oatmeal flour*
5 g (1 teaspoon) salt
50 grams (1/2 cup) milled flaxseed
125 grams (1 1/4 cup) nuts (any variety or combination, chopped if you prefer)
225 grams (2 1/2 cups) dried fruit (any variety or combination)
150 grams (1/2 cup) honey
90 grams (1/2 cup) coconut oil, melted
Instructions:
Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
Spread in an even layer on a parchment-covered baking sheet.
Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes. Stir. Bake 10 minutes more.
Remove from the oven. Let cool on the baking sheet. Store in an airtight container.
*Oatmeal flour improves the texture of this granola, but there’s no need to purchase additional ingredients. Just pulse regular oatmeal in a food processor, blender, or spice grinder.

The beauty of this recipe is that the flavors can be adapted to anything you have on hand or any particular combination you have in mind.
