Farming for Flavor
“Eating is inescapably an agricultural act,
and how we eat determines, to a considerable extent, how the world is used.”
-Wendell Berry
Are you looking for real, nutrient-dense, healthful, filling, and incredibly delicious meat and produce raised by a family you know well on a small diversified farm close to home?
Are you increasingly concerned by the negative environmental impacts of factory farms and commercially raised food?
Have you ever felt disconnected from your food? Sterile fluorescent lit supermarkets are a far cry from the sunshine-dappled fields and free-ranging farm animals you’ve always imagined.
Do you suffer from chronic and debilitating health issues caused and/or exacerbated by highly processed foods full of chemicals and additives you can’t pronounce?
Are you fed up with foods marketed as “diet-friendly” and “healthy” that are really just bland, nutrition-deficient substitutes for real food?
Know Your Food and Your Farmer
At Belvedere Farms, we have always had two main priorities:
- to raise nutrient-dense, delicious food using sustainable, loving, and environmentally-sound practices and management
- to raise our children to be hard-working, compassionate humans who understand, appreciate, are in awe of, and thoughtfully contribute and care for the natural world around them.
People often ask what we raise on our farm, and though we know they’re really asking about the animals and produce, our first answer is always: kids!
We have five kids, all of whom contribute in meaningful ways to the daily operation of the farm – from the pre-teen to the toddler – we all live here, we all eat here, we all work here.
Happy Animals Taste Better
You believe in good food too. And you’re looking for ways to connect to that food, to know where it comes from, and to know the family who’ve dedicated themselves to raising animals and coaxing gardens to life with love and dedication.
Come visit us on the farm. We’d love to show you around and talk all things farming for flavor. Come see in person the difference regenerative agricultural practices and sustainably raised animals make in terms of quality of life, nutrient-dense and deliciously flavorful foods, and a balanced, diversified farm ecology.
Take home a dozen eggs, or a whole pasture-raised chicken, or grass fed beef, or a crate of heirloom tomatoes and see for yourself what happy animals and happy plants who’ve lived their best life really taste like. Plus – our kids just really really love visitors 🙂
